How to Make Flowery String Lights
Who said string lights could only be used during the holiday season? “Not I,” said the blogger.  Either way, it’s time to get those creative juices flowing and create flower decorations made from cupcake wrappers! So simple, fun and absolutely adorable and affordable!  Oh, alliteration, how I love you.Let’s make some light magic.[[MORE]]
Step 1:Start with the material list: a single hole puncher, razor blade or X-Acto knife, scissors, and any color cupcake wrappers. As a side note: I mainly used the scissors to cut my flower designs but, if you wanted more intricate shapes, the X-Acto knife would help you be more precise.
Step 2:Begin the pre-design process with some cupcake wrapper folding. Fold the wrapper in half. If you fold the wrapper in half four times, as shown above,  the flower will have eight petals. The less times you fold it, the less petals there will be.
Step Three:Time to start the actual design process now that the wrapper origami is done.Cut the top edge of the cupcake wrapper into any shape or pattern your little heart desires.  A flower petal design seems cool, let’s do that.Step Four:Here begins the engineering part. Don’t worry —  there won’t be any math involved. Phew! Carefully open the flower you’ve so beautifully crafted.  Let it bloom! Roll the petals inward, and make sure to hole punch the center of the flower.  Now wiggle the flower all the way through the string light-bulb. Just be gentle as not to rip your wonderfully crafted, well, craft.
Step Five:Repeat steps two through four as many times as you have lights that need flowers.Step Six:Hang up the festive creation for all to enjoy! These flower string lights are perfect for any spring or early summer party — indoors or outdoors. In this version, I layered two different shaped wrappers to create one flower, that way the petals have more dimension. Feel free to experiment with different size cupcake wrappers, and petal designs. It’s all up to your imagination!
